For you i would suggest wearing a nice dark washed jean with an ankle boot (in black but no heel) and to pull i outfit together a v-neck purple shirt and a maybe a cropped black blazer or sweater

OMG I'm going to John Mayer too.

It depends on where your seats are, if you have like floor tickets you'll probably have to wear jeans/pants/comfy skirt.

I don't think you have to dress up like you're going to the opera or whatever if you're going to a concert. I don't think John Mayer himself will judge you and his fans shouldn't.

Just wear black, tone down the make up, minimal jewelry it might be kinda dark and you might lose your earrings or whatever and Chuck Taylors/Reeboks etc for comfort.

If you're really into John Mayer buy something from his website. People dress fairly casually at his concerts. If its a night out maybe a party dress you can dance in but isn't too revealing. There may be kids there.

The Dos

Do: Have fun! A concert gives you a little licence to go wild.

Do: Wear something with pockets, zip ones are especially useful.

Do: Think of the climate it's in. It gets very hot indoors and very cold outdoors.

Do: Take one of those hideous (but very practical) plastic ponchos to an outdoor gig. It may not look like it’s going to rain, but with one of these in your pocket it doesn’t really matter if it does or not. Worried about looking stupid? Other sane people will be wearing them, and frankly it’s way less cool than you may think to be completely drenched in rain water. Besides, these things end up being sold for around $15 at venues.

The Don’ts

Don’t: Wear things that can be untied (read strappy tops, bikinis etc) in the mosh unless you want them to be untied. Because – put frankly they most probably will.

Don’t: Kill your feet with impractical shoes. Even if you have seated tickets don’t fool yourself into thinking you will actually be sitting for the entire gig!

Don’t: Take a huge bag. Do you really need six different kinds of lip gloss, muesli bars and your PSP on you? Take only what you need and if you can, try to keep it down to pocket
