I know they are generally viewed as an item frequented by homosexuals in modern day, but do you think they can be pulled off in a straight manner? What about men's clothing icons like Cary Grant - who was very masculine and also wore an ascot quite a lot. If you styled yourself in that older, vintage Hollywood elegance attire - blazers, sweaters, chinos, etc. as opposed to beanies and skinny jeans and whatever else gay people where - would the ascot be less gay, or would it just make it seem even more gay?

Note: I have nothing against gays, I'm just wondering if you all think it is possible to pull off the ascot in a non-gay manner - in more of a 1950s classy way.

No.

"The ascot is descended from the earlier type of cravat widespread in the early 19th century" "In British English the more casual form is referred to as a day cravat to distinguish it from the highly formal dress cravat."

Worn formally during a wedding, today.

When I see a man wearing an ascot, I'd assumed he was from Britain.

I hate questions like these.

It's an item of clothing. Unless it says on it somewhere in bright flashy letters "I'M GAY!" then there is literally no way that it can indicate a sexual preference.

It's also not even "frequented by homosexuals". It's barely frequented by anyone because while people do still wear them from time to time, it is overall a less popular item than it once was.

Only if the Ascot is bright pink or rainbow colored. Ascots are for wealthy American preps, and British toffs
