Am I too short to be a commercial or print model?

I am a 17 year old male who is currently approximately 5 foot 10.5 in. I might not be done growing but there is also prolly no way I end up more than 5 foot 11. Anyway a good amount of people have said that I look like I could model, and that I look like brad Pitt. Considering I am planning on going to a top tier school next year and colleges r getting more expensive each year, I was hoping to model part time to make some extra cash. So, what r the average heights for abercrombie, abercrombie kids, American eagle, aeropostale, etc. Models.

the average male model is between 5'11 and 6'2

and weighs between 145 and 160 pounds



so if you hit 5'11 you might be able to do some things if you have long legs

you need to be fit as well

not super muscle-y and bulky, but very healthy and fit

2 things. First, you might not be a runway model, but print models come in all sizes and heights. So as long as you have the look, you should have no problems with doing commercial and print modeling. I've known several male models that are that height, and made decent money. Commercials are good, too. More possible money, too, if you can get residuals.



Second, get an agent, but do NOT go with one that makes you pay up front (or pay for their classes, or whatever). They will not work for you. (They may tell you to go out and join a gym, or even possibly go get some head shots, or whatever, which is fine when you're starting out. Provided they don't own the photography studio that they want you to get head shots at.) But those agents that make you take their classes and stuff are almost always scams.

Most A & F, American Eagle and Aeropostale models always look pretty tall. You might not get a store model job but you can always apply to the casting for pictures. I highly doubt they will care too much about height if you're only in pictures. I also think you can be a commercial model most likely, basically anything in pictures. People usually care mostly about height when when we are talking runway or live fashion models because people will notice the height.

usually males are about 5'11" and up, though im sure if u look proportonal they will take u in since ur shy just by a bit. they like u really in shape or slender... they like a manly chizzled look in a guys face...and they like the guys to be a bit older than the females, so usually they like em at 20+ because the bone structure in the face comes out more to give u a more manly look. If u want to persue it why not...what can it hurt?...if u have no luck there, oh well, u can always find a different job. long legs are good or bad for modeling, what they look for is proportional ideal bodies.

I think you will probably be ok. There are guys shorter than you that have made it. Plus long legs is a huge bonus. And if you look like brad pitt, I don't think your height will matter much.

High fashion male models are between 5'11" and 6'2" so you could totally do print work at 5'10.5". You're lucky you're barely under and not over. I knew a few guys who were turned down for being too tall at 6'3".

start a profile on onemodelplace or another legit networking site. if you have what it takes the work will begin to find you.



BUT...

remember that successful models are NOT the best looking ones. they are the ones who market themselves successfully. tyra, cindy, gisele and heidi are not the most beautiful women on the planet. they have the marketing skills to back up their good looks.
