Does anyone think Hollister is getting ghetto?

Ok, I'm not basing this on race or anything. Because of course I'm black, but I am preppy. I wear A&F and Lactose and all that stuff. But it’s like all the ghetto kids at my school are wearing Hollister and Aero(I don't like Aeropostal, so I care less) now.
But really like I shop at stores who reflect my personality, and it’s like when you don’t have the personality it’s like why are you wearing that. It’s like a spit on their face. For example, there many black chicks who would hate a preppy white girl for wearing RocaWear and Babyphat. And I’m not promoting not to wear what you want. It’s just that when you go to a store you go to a place that says who you are, and it’s like a lot of these kids are wearing just to wear it. Like I have rocker friends and they are mad to, that some of the ghetto kids did the whole party like a rock star and dressed up in vans and skulls when they would go ew, why do you listen to devil music. I just think it hypocritical for a lot of these kids to be wearing this stuff now.
But again, I know some adult is like it’s just labels and shouldn’t exclude yourself to a brand or label…blah, blah, blah… But I just wanted to know what you think. If you disagree or agree please explain.

I think what you mean is that Hollister is becoming potrayed as ghetto. (that made no sense)

To explain what I mean is that a lot of black, ghetto people at my school are wearing Hollister also. I'm not saying Hollister (or any other store) is only for one race, but it annoys me how I swear at the beginning of the year I hear these same girls talk about how Hollsiter is for stuck up, rich, white b!tches, but now they're wearing it. Please note, I'm not trying to pick on one race, because Hispanic/Latino's wear it too, but they did not complain about the brand.

As for Hollister itself, I think its the same thing, just many more groups are wearing it now. I don't think that makes it ghetto though.

mama first off i respect u and ur ideas but BE real. thats really how u think? If so then no one should be wearing causal jeans or even three piece suits in Japan or eastern europe. I like the point u made about the black girls who would get upset when a white girl wear urban clothes. i understand that but u must understand that the people who get upset are very ignorant. The point that u are forgetting is clothes are just....clothes. Also this "rocker" apparal is a TREND that will soon fade away just as pokadotted plad jumpsuits and things of that nature. I dont want u worrying ur pretty lil head because some black kids are stealin' ur swagger, because clothes are meant to express ones' self and to be intrepreted as living comfortably. Dont take it So seriously.

LOL! Not really, Hollister is like the preppiest thing ever. It's too relaxed and surfer. Do "gangsters" wear store names across their shirts? In my opinion, just because "gangsters" wear Hollister doesn't make the clothes any more ghetto than they are if a prep is wearing them. I think it's ridiculous to hate people for what they wear. I agree with you, people are definitely judged by what they wear, and if they dress a certain way (perhaps one that is different than their "group") they should expect to face the consequences, good or bad. I'm definitely not a fan of Aero, AE, Abercrombie, ect. but a lot of people wear them and I don't hate them because of it.

I'm sorry if any of this sounds rude. I didn't mean to sound like that at all. It is just my honest opinion.

Do you mean to ask Hollister is becoming more acceptable to wear in the urban "ghetto" look?

Well yes.. it depends were you live. Here in NYC its common to see people mixing up clothes of stores that are stereotypically worn by another group of people. Its like back in the late 90's when wearing tommy hilfiger and RL was cool for the urban style. I see many guys and girl wearing Hollister. Whether people believe it our not Urban style is not that far from "preppy." Esp for girls. They both have Tees with brand name plaster all over them and polos.

well i shop @ abercrombie and hollister etc. where i live it's soo diverse, so really you see all types of people in those stores. ive seen mexicans, black, white, chinese etc... but i went to abercrombie out of state and there were only white people in those stores so i guess it's pretty much depends on where you live. i don't really care about name brands as much as i use to, i just buy anything that looks cute doesn't matter what store it's from. and just because people wear a certain name brand doesn't mean they know style, it just means their parents have money.

This question is stupid, talk about stereotyping! It's incredibly stupid for someone to make comments like this, you act like all of those preppy brands are exclusive to you and your friends only.

Hollister will never be ghetto, its too overpriced and cheap/trashy/preppy(take your pick) looking
