Question:
Will wearing a string bikini prevent the "muffin top" look?

I'm a bit larger, 5'7"/female/152 lbs. and I'll admit that I have a slight ''muffin top'' problem. But like everyone else, I'm looking for a new bathing suit and hoping to get a bikini.

But last year, I had a pair of bottoms that were perfect when I went swimming [they never came off] but once I got out of the water...you could see a little mound rolling over. I'm not that fat, mostly muscle from sports, but it's so ugly looking!

So right now I'm on Victoriassecret.com and looking for a bikini and I just wanted to know that by wearing a string bikini bottom, if that would work better for making muffin tops dissappear.

Thanks!

No, a string bikini will not make a muffin top disappear. It might make even the tiniest lumps and bumps appear more obvious. Your body shape sounds very similar to mine. I can tell you what I have fouind works best for me: Try a higher waisted bottom and raise the leg line. The higher cut leg line will make the bottom half appear longer and narrower, while the higher waistline will cover whatever rolls you might have. Or try a higher waisted boy-short type bottom. Some specialty swim suit stores sell bottoms that have special cuts and styles that minimizes muffin tops through style details, special linings, and the cut of the suits. Colour blocking,, seam-lines, and prints can also minimize any areas that you might feel are a problem. There are swimsuit stores and websites that will have sections devoted to different swimsuits that suit different figures. Quite frankly, most of the suits on VS this year have what appears to be the same bottoms, way too low on the hips, and a bit too small in the back view, a look that's very difficult for most women to wear. They concentrate on the tops at the expense of the bottoms. They don't have any higher waisted, high leg line styles. There are other places with far more flattering suits in a greater variety of cuts and styles.

I would say no, you will still have the muffin top effect, and it will most likely look worse with a more revealing bottom. If you have muffin top to start, you may think about changing to a higher waisted bikini, a tankini, or a one piece.
