Mood rings change from temperature... But actually, they do work. Your body temperature changes slightly from mood to mood. For instance, if you're cool I think it means you're relaxed... If you're neutral, it'll be medium temperature... If you're hotter, you're angry. I'm not totally sure, you can check with your mood rings colors and stuff. Like, try putting your hand in a fridge for a little bit (not too long) and then putting on the ring. What emotion do you get then? :)

I found this:

"The mood ring is filled with or a clear jem lays on a layer of a thermochromic element that changes colors with temperature change."

So it's possible that you are just the same temperature all the time, therefore the ring doesn't change colour.

But if it now won't change colour no matter what, I can guess what has happened.

The layers of the ring have either come apart somehow due to exposure to some element that destroys them (like temperature or chemical or solvent) or they have come apart due to some sort of adhesive holding them together disolving.

You wouldn't be able to physically see a separation like this, it would be too small a space to see with the naked eye.

I would test it by putting it in boiling hot water, it should change colour again, which might just mean it will take a bit more extreme temperatures now to change the colour, or if it doesn't change colour, you know it's best to put it in a keepsake's box for now.

I don't think you can fix it though. Sorry :(

As someone else said, mood rings change colors according to temperature.

Judging by the fact that you tried putting it in the freezer, though, I assume you already knew that.

Perhaps the ring is just really resistant to temperature change? Like, it was made out of a thick amount of thermally insulating material?

It sounds like it's a ripoff. A moodring should turn black when really really cold. Not gray. >___<

rip off mood ring that was fake and did not change color so thats what i think!

You actually wasted money on a mood ring? Those things are junk. They change with your body temperature not your mood.

And if you think about it.. They all

start with different color-which if they're in

a box or just sittin some where all

together; How do they have diff colors?

Which means that maybe its a fraud.

Well is probably stayin gonly one color cause it might haave gotten wet. when mood rings get wet they die. you might want to take it too a proffesinal since they know what they are doing.
