The problem with this question is that it comes off as a poser side of you. If you want to become 'emo', it needs to come from your own style and what you like, not what other people tell you to wear. By having a list/criteria from other people on what you should wear to become 'emo' then it screams poser all over you.

And if you really are serious about this like you said, you need to take it slow. You can't go from what you are now into 'emo' in one night. You need to learn what it means to be emo and look what other people are wearing, head to toe.

You should look into the lifestyle first before getting into the clothing. You can appear to be emo but know absolutely nothing about it (which is where you are now), but in the end you're just fooling yourself.

› Emo Clothing

By almost all current definitions, emo clothing is characterized by tight jeans on males and females alike, long fringe (bangs) often brushed to one side of the face, dyed black, straightened hair, tight t-shirts which often bear the names of rock bands, studded belts, belt buckles, Chuck Taylor All-Stars, skate shoes, or other black shoes (often old and beaten up) and thick, black horn-rimmed glasses.

› Emo Fashion

Emo fashion has changed with time; early trends included haircuts similar to those worn by the Romulans and Vulcans in Star Trek, tightly fitting sweaters, button-down shirts, and work jackets (often called gas station jackets).

Here is guide of how you can get

emo hair

This goes for girls and also for boys!

Let your hair grow in the front and side parts so they cover your face. In the back you can let it short and spike it up with gel! Some do that, some don't! If you have short hair, the first months are going to be a pain, because you won't be able to make your hair look "emo". As it grows, comb it towards an eye in the direction that you want. After 3 or 4 months, when the fringe reaches 3/4 of the way down your forehead, go to a hair dresser that looks professional, and get it thinned out and have it trimmed so that it will grow in the right shape.

First off, might I suggest (if you haven't already) joining the emo forum.

Next, it depends on which "generation" of emo you're shooting for. The first wore whatever punks wore in the 80's hardcore scene. The next dressed like nerds with sweatervests and dress pants. After that it was tight shirts and old, cut-up jeans. The current one wears chucks, bootleg to skinny jeans (though skinny is more a scene thing), band tee's, and dark colors. They don't care as much about accessories, but I would say jelly bracelets and things with safety pins are good.

Remember, only wear these things if you actually like them. Don't do it just to fit into a scene, do it because you love it.

....well i have to say your a poser if u dont know how to dress....but im emo and 13 and its simple...just wear black or dark blue stone washed skinny jeans with any black tee-shirt [ it doesnt really matter what it says as long as its mostly black] or a black hoodie. For shoes just wear some black converse i guess low tops or high tops are fine...i prefer low tops......and for accesories....well for a guy i would say a choker or those spikey cuff/bracelet things [hot topic is great for that kinda stuff] and the studded belts are awesome...hop topic is probably where u should shop or like zumies...hope i helped...
