I filled out a application for Hollister and today was the day of my interview.
I went and I was very friendly with everyone, I believe I made a good impression. I answered the questions pretty good. I had a smile on my face the whole time. I think I did pretty well, but I've heard that they only want the tall skinny white blond hair barbie looking girls to work for them. I don't know how true it is but that's what I heard. I think I favor a black barbie I have long black hair, im brown skin im not that tall im about 5"5 and im not skinny or fat I consider myself average. Do you think I will get the job? They said if I don't get called back by friday, then I wasn't hired. What do you guys think about this....? I honestly think looks shouldn't even matter.

Please ANSWER.

THANK YOU :)

Of course they hire black people! One of my best friends at Hollister is black. She's not tall or super skinny, but she works there, and so do many other black people. Actually, one of the managers is black. Unfortunately, looks do matter in the model position. They hire attractive people so others will come shop there. If you smiled and had good answers to all the questions, you are more likely to get hired. The rumor that you have to be a tall, skinny blonde to work there is completely false. :)

My sister had an interview there and I guess there were a quite a few people present. They told everyone if they wanted them they would contact them by Friday. They said they had a few ?'s for my sister and asked her to stay back. They then offered her the job. I don't know if it works that way at all the Hollisters, but I would guess maybe. They do hire based a lot on looks I think. She just works out front, but her title is "Hollister Model", and she is the typical tall blonde beauty. Though I don't go there often so I don't know what most people there look like. However, I don't think they can use your race as a reason not to hire you, that would be discrimination. I do think they have the right to base things on your look though... I hope this helps, and I wish you luck in your job search :)

It is illegal not to hire people based solely on their race so i certainly hope they do

Hello...My name is Anna Boyd && I am a Hollister addict, baha.

But as many years as I have religiously shopped at the store I hadn't seen a black person && I never gave it a thought untill I saw your post...hmm..

All I know is that life is unfair at times and there is just nothing we can do about it except to suck it up, move on, and become stronger.

I don't believe in giving up...so instead of setteling for Hollister, why not see if you can get a job somewhere higher :] American Eagle, GAP, Dillards, Abercrombie & Fitch (I know they like to hire different ethnic groups)

&& as far as working for HCO, I say if you can't become one of them..conquor and beat them :]

---as far as looks, I work at a department store && I was always blonde && got called Barbie alot && few co-workers believed that I got hired just bc of my looks...I dyed my hair brown :] I don't called barbie anymore. Its all just very stupid. I believe you should look nice && presentable for a job, but "barbies" belong in a barbie dream house && not out on the real world working among us :]
