Skinny jeans are trendy. Pair them with some boots and you're good for fall. Slouchy cardigans are also big, with just a plain white tee and maybe a cute necklace. Stores like Forever 21, Charlotte Russe, or Wet Seal usually carry fast-trend clothes. I don't reccomend them if you're looking for pieces that you can wear for years to come, but if you want something instantly trendy then definitley go there. Also, purple is a hot color for the fall, and anything with color blocks gets you extra trend points.

Look at Teen Vogue for general trends, and Seventeen for actual outfits. Accessories are a cheap way to update your not-so-trendy basics. Think belts around the waist, headbands, and bangles.

Side ponytail



1. Make a low or high ponytail on the side of your head, it doesn't matter if its on the right or left side.

2. Secure with hair tie ribbon or bow your choice.

3. Add a cute bow, ribbon, or hair clip if desired.



High and low ponytails



1. To make a high ponytail, you first need to make sure your hair is smooth and brushed. Brush your hair back so there isn't a part and then brush all your hair toward the point on your head which you want it to be. Make sure it looks smooth and neat, then secure it with an elastic.

2. Or another easy way is to put your head upside down, grab ALL of your hair, then you will have a high pony tail! (I do it this way all the time for my pony tails!)

3. To make a low ponytail, follow the same directions for high ponytail but instead secure to the back of your neck.

4. Add cute accessories (optional).

5. Braiding the hair of your low ponytail will give it a romantic feel(opt.).

6. Crimp or straighten the pony tail (optional). And you're done!



Half-Up



1. Flip your hair upside-down and part your hair horizontally about a 1/3 away from your hairline.

2. Brush the ponytail smooth or leave it messy.

3. Secure with a hair-tie or a hair-clip.



The Cheerleader Pony Tail



1. Straighten your hair all over first.

2. Grasp all hair in one hand low. Leave out your bangs.

3. Start to pass the hair back and forth and go higher while doing so.

4. Put your hair tie in and bobby pin down massive bumps.

5. Take the extra bangs and braid them back. Secure with bobby pins or hair clips

6. Add a cute preppy ribbon. Then add a little hair spray to the bangs to keep them back.



Curly Ponytail



This works best on long hair.



1. Grasp all of your hair in one hand and brush it into a low side pony tail using your hands.

2. Using a medium curling iron curl different sized sections of hair.

3. Don't worry about curling all of it; leave some pieces natural.

Oh how exciting! Ok I love back to school, its such a fun time! For clothes bright dresses that flatter your figure, dark wash jeans with detailing on the back pockets, you basically cannot go wrong with ralph lauren. It's a classic. How adorable is that?! There are some other shapes and patterns too. Bright fire engine red nail polish will always look fantastic. Make sure you have your nails and toes polished. I also can guarentee you that you would absolutely love bare minerals for makeup! It's very natural and fresh! You can buy the starter kit at sephora at your local mall. =) For hair small twists and small braids throughout hair is popular. Anything from Aero, Hollister, Abercrombie and Fitch, or American Eagle is considered 'cool' at my school. I also heart Pac Sun's jeans. they rock, they make a ton of sizes, even 00 longs (like I wear). any hairstyle works except weird up-dos (only for dances) and side bangs are totally in! hopefully I helped!

Research designers and look at their ready to wear collections. True, you probably won't be able to buy that fabulous Marc Jacobs dress, but it helps to have some inspiration.

Look at reputable fashion magazines such as Vogue, Elle and Marie Claire. If you want something targeted for your age group, try Teen Vogue. Again, these are awesome sources for inspiration (and fashion gossip!)

After inspiration comes (you guessed it)...shopping! You don't need to shop at stores like Abercrombie and Hollister to be fashionable (actually, these stores are often frowned upon in the fashion industry.) In fact, you'll have better luck at thrift stores! This decade in fashion takes vintage and adds a twist to it. Try places like adorevintage.com for excellent vintage clothing. If you don't want to shop vintage try department stores like Macy's or Nordstrom. They have a wide selection of clothing, so you are bound to find what you are looking for. If you are a bit more into band shirts and skinny jeans as such you would find in Hot Topic, don't overdo it. If you are a guy, wearing girl pants portrays in many people's eyes an "emo kid" image. Maybe find some slim-fitting, not skintight jeans, at American Eagle or Aeropostale. Keep colors in your wardrobe! Wearing black and white all the time is not the way to go. Try to find clothes with bright colors, but keep some darks in there too. A general rule of thumb is to keep colors varied.

Now that you have a wardrobe, it's time to flaunt it! Don't try to match things. The fashion industry is not mitchy-matchy. Look at silhouettes from designs you like and emulate them. Or even better, create your own designs!

Stay up to date by reading fashion blogs, looking at new fashion lines, and reading Vogue or Elle. Seventeen is a good magazine, but it is more "trendy" than "Fashionable." Incorporate the trends you like from the runway into your style.







TipsTry not to dress like a slob everyday. It's okay to have the occasional lazy day where you just chill out in jeans and a sweatshirt, but don't do it everyday. It doesn't portray a tasteful image.

Forget about brands. Fashion is not a tee with "American Eagle" plastered on the front. Labeling yourself is a stupid thing to do and just proves that you are more of crowd follower than a fashion foward teen.

There are more designers than Louis Vuitton and Chanel! Research them, love them! But don't worship them.

People don't care if you are rich. In fact, with all the fake bags, wearing a bag with a giant logo will just make you look tacky. Don't flaunt your money. Be conservative with it. Of course, logos aren't terrible, but if you can't afford it never buy a fake one! Remember to smile.

Don't be snotty with people. Respect their style, even if they do just follow the crowd.................................................................WarningsThere are people that cut down on fashionistas because they don't follow the crowd. Don't listen to them! Originality is the most important thing in fashion. If you aren't yourself (everyone is original because everyone is different) how can you be fashionable?
