Should I buy wide shoes?

I wear a size 9/12 in women's, and my feet are approximately 4" wide (without socks.) As far as I know, that's considered wide but I've never really thought about it and have never worn wide shoes in my life, although many pairs of shoes I've had, especially things like slippers and moccasins, my feet sort of spill over the edges. I'm just wondering if I should wear like a C, D, or E, etc?

It'd quite simple really - Go to a shoe store and have your feet measured. Big box store shoe departments are NOT what I am talking about. Go to a store that specializes in shoes. I just did that and now I have shoes that actually fit my feet properly! I used to wear a 13 EE and after measuring my feet it was determined I needed a 12 5E. Big difference there!

You should wear a D or E in width which would be a wide or wide/wide size. Go to a shoe place like Nordstroms or Payless that has wide shoes and try on the wide sizes. You'll see the difference and may even have to go down a size to 9 if the shoes are wider. Good luck!! : }

You should get at least a 9 1/2 2E and if that is still too narrow, get a wider shoe. I also have wide feet. I do try to get 8 1/2 2E Men's
