I'm 6'7 and only 180lbs, and cant find shirts that really fit me well. mediums fit will in the chest and side but are way too short, while a large is long enough but very baggy looking on me. any ideas?

You're lucky, some girls *love* tall skinny guys. Try getting your shirts altered to fit. You'll need to start with the larger shirt and have it fitted to your body. Look in the phone book under alterations/seamstresses. If you feel creative you could learn to sew and tailor some of the easier-to-sew stuff for yourself. You might also want to deconstruct your shirts and put them back together in a new way. It's a little more difficult, but you could custom design things for yourself that way. Men's dress shirts come in all kinds of sizes to fit different bodies. You might want to invest in a few button-down shirts that fit you really well. They don't have to look formal, even though they're called dress shirts. And they look really flattering if they fit you just right. I'm glad you don't want to wear something super baggy, girls would rather see your body shape ~ you'll look much better in something that skims your body (but isn't super tight either). Good luck!

Our son isn't quite as tall as you, but he's had similar problems.

Two solutions that have helped are to forget plain old Small, Medium, and Large sizing and to buy only when they offer your size (Medium, I take it?) in a Tall. This severely limits your selection, but what there is in a Medium-Tall probably fits.

The other solution he had was for dress-style shirts, something he could wear a tie with (when forced at gunpoint or by a pretty girl), and that was to buy athletic fit even though he's not at all athletic, just thin. They're cut much narrower through the body, the waist especially, so there's none of that blousing like a pirate shirt where it tucks in, and of course he can buy his actual neckband and sleeve length measurements. Again, the selection is limited, but there are always white, cream, several shades of blue, a few stripes or muted plaids, etc.

I have pretty good luck taking a sewing machine and just adding another stitch that reduces the width of the shirt on the seams on both sides of a shirt. from the arm pit to the bottom of the shirt. Its very easy to do and I don't even bother to cut off the material, it just folds over inside the shirt. Basically gives you an athletic cut on any shirt.

you can tailor your own shirts by flipping a large shirt it inside out and drawing a line on how well you want it to fit, sew along the line and you have a well-fitting shirt :) This works great on big old baggy shirts and turning them kind of new.
