High-heel shoes were INTENTIONALLY invented by men to make girls unable to run?

That's what a main character said in a particular movie. (...along with "to make a girl's butt look smaller"...)

If that is true, then what's the point? Why would the particular guy who invented the shoes have to gain by seeing girls try to run (far any reason) and they're unable to do it?

heels were (i think)made so women could compensate being shorter than men.as years went on the high heel became a sexy attribute to womens fashion.i can run in heels.not as fast but they dont stop me.do you see alot of taller women in heels?

No. Back in the 1700s, 1600s and before, men wore pumps, too. In fact, I think there was a period of time when men wore them and women didn't. Men wore tight pants along with heeled shoes in order to accentuate their butts and legs. Women wore skirts, so you couldn't see such assets. However, a dainty foot in a heeled shoe is appealing, and heels DO help to keep your feet out of the mud, so women wore them, too. Besides, fashion doesn't have to make sense.



It stuck to being only women who wore heeled shoes, however. That may have been sexist, but not intentionally so. Look at it this way-- it is hard to do work in a field or a factory in heels. Since those are traditionally men's jobs, lower class men didn't wear heels, though lower class women may have. That carried over to all aspects of society and stuck with us.







Men didn't invent heels so that we couldn't run.

Actually, heels were invented in China as a way for males royalty to appear taller than the commoners. The practice was brought to the west and made popular by the French nobility. In both countries, the taller the shoe, the more important the person.

Also, the French, who invented ballet, realized that heels make your legs appear longer and leaner and so they used heels in their dancing.

I think I know what movie you are talking about. Is is "She's the Man" ? I guess if the girl is unable to run, then the guy can catch her easily. It is just to make men more powerful I guess. But then again, the girl can step on his neck with the heel too.
